Reasons why your Hard Drive Crashes

Many computer users may be wondering why their hard drives crash. Here are some reasons why this happens:

Lack of maintenance and ignorance: You hard drive needs to be maintained regularly. In general, your computer needs regular maintenance. If you fail to carry out regular maintenance to any machine, it is bound to fail. The same applies for hard drives. One of the things that people ignore about their hard drives is an aspect called disk defragmenting. Disk defragmenting, in lay man’s language, is putting hard drive addresses to be contiguous i.e. the addresses follow each other in such a way that accessing files would be faster and easier. When files are stored on various sectors in various addresses, accessing them would be difficult leading to freezing and hard drive crashes.

Another way ignorance is displayed is when there are certain sounds coming from the hard drive. It is always advised to pay attention to your hard drive, especially for sounds that may be coming from it. Sometimes there could be click sounds, whirring and also buzzing sounds emanating from it. This means that your hard drive could be physically damaged and there are some internal components that could be broken and when the hard drive is running, the components could be touching each other. Just pay attention to your hard drive and avoid crashes.

Another reason why your hard drive could crash could be because of viruses. Viruses are programs that corrupt files in the hard disk. Computer viruses are similar to medical viruses where they replicate themselves. This more viruses mean more infection of files in the hard drive and thus the hard drive may crash. There will be massive loss of information. It is always recommended that whenever you purchase a new machine, one of the first things to install is anti-virus software to protect against infections.
