My Hard Disk Won't Open

Have you ever seen a file on your disk assuming a different icon as opposed to the normal one? Then you are right that is a virus. Mostly what seems to be an icon of a disk drive assumes a disk with a red question mark on it.

Viruses hide your files making it very difficult to access your information; they change the file system causing files to open abnormally.

Logical failures that are brought about by software application may lead to disk errors through writing on the wrong part of the disk.

As a warning tip, after installing your new operating system on your laptop or desktop, perform disk check integrity on the other disk drive. This will avoid your disk file structure changing and requesting you to format the drive the next time you start your operating system.

If your disk happens to fall, fragile components get damaged causing physical failure. You also might have noticed that during boot up the disk is invisible.

Improper connection of IDE cables can also cause the system to issue an error stating that the disk is unavailable. Check to see if your IDE cables are correctly connected. This applies only to systems that may have been disconnected either while adding new storage device or performing any other technical servicing to the system.

Damaged disk will not open. If the disk has suffered a huge number of bad sectors, the disk may as well be announced worthless. Despite the fact a disk can be repaired, it may still be worthless on an old disk as it may not serve for long.
