Crashes can lead to two types of failure, logical and physical failure.
Logical failure may be caused by the processes sent to the CPU ending up not responded to. If the processes are still not executed they wait till they are executed. This can result computer hangs, if the system encounters a heavy use of the memory, it can invoke an auto restart.
These unresolved processes result to corrupt memory pages which facilitate a base ground for crashes. The crash can wipe the whole disk or damage the data within the device. Software can also result to corrupt data if the application attempts to write on the wrong part of the disk.
Physical failure may be caused by power outage. In connection to the CPU execution processes in a point where the system goes off instantly initiating a form of power cut. The printed circuit board can have faults from the inconsistent power.
The heads of the drive on expanding from the heating can touch the disk heads causing data loss as they scratch the disk plates directly.
A crash can take any form. Whatever form it may take the hit is hard and data loss is a great possibility. Always ensure a stable backup is ready and in case of a hard disk disaster a data recovery expert can recover the data over an agreed fee.
