Is your computer freezing? Here’s why

Have you ever been working on some program and then it suddenly stops working? Is it possible that sometimes you may move the mouse and try and navigate it and it fails? These are some indications that the computer has frozen. Freezing means that the CPU is unable to process certain instructions. In case freezing happens again, check on the following:

New Software installed: Just as in the case of the new hardware installed, the same situation applies here. There is some software that is really large and takes quite a lot of disk space. If the PC started freezing immediately after installing new software, then it means it is the software that is slowing the system down. One may opt to uninstall it.

New Hardware Installed: One can target a freezing PC by trying to remember the exact time the problem came up. Often, the computer system begins to slow down after installation of new hardware. This may be as a result of lack of disk space or the hardware installed is incompatible with the operating system. To solve this problem, one may uninstall the suspected hardware and reboot the PC. It may or may not work but it will reduce the chances of computer screen freezes.

RAM and Hard disk space: Computers usually crash simply because of lack of regular maintenance. Most computer systems freeze due to overloading of both temporary (RAM) and permanent storage (hard disk). It is advisable that the RAM has at least 25% free memory left. If this is not so, very little work can be done as the computer would be extremely slow in processing your information. It is also necessary to perform defragmenting of the hard disk to utilize as much space as possible.

Viruses: A virus is a computer program that is designed to corrupt both personal and system files in the hard disk. It replicates itself to affect as many files as possible. One very common way of infection is through frequent visits to the internet and downloading stuff from unknown sites. It is also known that viruses can be sent through the email. The way to protect your PC from infection is by installing ant-virus software that can be updated regularly and scanning should be as often as possible.
